Ava Baccari
It took one stage adaptation of her favourite Disney flick — Beauty and the Beast — at age four, and Ava was hooked on theatre. She recently graduated from Ryerson University with a bachelor of journalism and spent most of the time writing about arts in the city and sneaking in shows between classes. She’s interned for NOW Magazine, Today’s Parent and most recently, ELLE Canada, where she still writes about — what else? — theatre. Her biggest fangirl moment happened outside the stage door of the Neil Simon Theater in New York with Aaron Tveit, the lead in Catch Me If You Can, on Broadway this past summer. (She may have even expressed her deep love for him.) Ava plans to hit up every major world-class theatre city at some point while documenting her experiences, likely for the memoir she will write one day. Right now, she’s happy to be in Toronto, covering the local theatre scene for Theatromania.
Linzee Barclay
Linzee has returned to our shores after living abroad for two-and-a-half years in Australia, Indonesia and London. With a natural flare for dramatics, her love of theatre began at a young age when she attended shows with her family in Toronto. Linzee credits The Phantom of the Opera as her first crush after seeing the musical in grade two. Her love for storytelling in all its various forms led her to pursue a BA in Theatre at Dalhousie University. After graduation, she moved back to Toronto and performed in various productions before her desire to travel across the pond got the best of the surfer in her. While abroad, Linzee sought out theatre everywhere she went. She’s experienced everything from Kubuki theatre in Beijing to traditional Balinese dance, performances at the Sydney Opera House, the bright lights of Broadway and London’s legendary West End. And yet, she still believes that some of the best talent and theatre lies here in The Big Smoke. Linzee is excited to be immersed in Toronto’s theatre community once again and thrilled to be a part of the Theatromania team.
Amy Lorriman
The official thirty-something contributing member of the Theatromania crew, Amy began her love affair with the theatre at three years old when she saw Annie on Broadway. Since then, her passion for performance has inspired her involvement in high school plays and the creation of her own production company which mounted a Shakespeare play, a movie, a cabaret and a pilot for a TV show. Amy is excited to lend her voice to this fun and fresh new forum for fellow Theatromaniacs!
