She’s a little bit country, he’s a little bit rock and roll, but together they are one of the most beloved brother-sister acts of the past 50 years. Donny and Marie Osmond, each with their own musical style and individual quirkiness, have reunited for a Christmas show that is outrageously entertaining and heartwarming. Donny & Marie Christmas in Toronto is a production akin to an overflowing Christmas stocking full of treats, surprises, and plenty of holiday cheer.

On a stage graced by a twinkling Christmas tree, a backdrop of lights resembling stars, and a double staircase lit in green, the Osmond duo make their entrance to deafening applause. The setup resembles a Las Vegas show, and for good reason—they have been performing in Vegas together to sold-out audiences since 2008. The first few songs are typical fun Christmas fare, but what follows is a real treat for Donny and Marie Osmond fans, respectively, as the production takes the audience back in time on a trip through the Osmonds' memories, greatest hits, and individual projects throughout the years.

With eight older brothers, Marie Osmond, at 55, is the only Osmond daughter. The production devotes time to showcase her 1973 country hit “Paper Roses," which she performs in a sparkling gownone of many breathtaking costumes to comeas well as a duet with a lucky audience member to “Blue Christmas." Marie is a superstar performer with a soaring voice and excellent comedic timing, and her older brother, Donny, celebrated his 57th birthday on opening night. Their hilarious banter is constant throughout the production and brings out their easygoing personalities, as well as their long-time onstage chemistry.

One of the many highlights of Donny & Marie Christmas in Toronto is their connection with the audienceMarie generously tosses a lipstick to a teenaged audience member advising her to “wait a few years to wear it!," and Donny walks through the audience several times to affectionate hugs and gifts from his many fans. Another huge highlight is the tribute paid to Donny and Marie’s time on Broadway, with Marie singing selections from her role as Maria in The Sound of Music in the 1990s, and Donny performing classics from his time as the title character in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Donny and Marie lovers are in for a fabulous two hour trip down memory lane with this production, as well as a deeper appreciation of the duo and their talent. Although the Christmas theme will appeal to many theatregoers, this production was created especially for die-hard Osmond fans.
