TSO Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke orchestrates another magical evening of music with his latest programme Love Will Keep Us Together, a collection of classic love songs, including Cole Porter’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” Alex North’s “Unchained Melody” and romantic tunes from Hollywood films such as Dirty Dancing, Moulin Rouge and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Featuring performances by soprano Betsy Wolfe (direct from Broadway’s The Mystery of Edwin Drood) and tenor Mike Eldred (from the original cast of the Tony-nominated Civil War), the concert opens with a little Barry White ("Love’s Theme") to get us in the mood. Reineke’s infectious energy fills the room as he dances and sways to Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana,” entertaining the crowd with charming commentary between numbers.

Wolfe stands out for her powerful vocals, tackling songs like “The Music That Makes Me Dance” from Funny Girl and “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic in a stunning lineup of evening gowns, while Eldred does well with the heartfelt “Sarah” from Civil War. Both performers come together for several songs, including a memorable rendition of “Anything You Can Do” from Annie Get Your Gun in the second half.

Looking for something fun to do with your sweetheart? Catch the last two performances of Love Will Keep Us Together at 2pm and 8pm today (Wednesday, February 20).

Up next in the TSO Pops Concert series is James Bond: The Music (April 2 & 3, 2013). Visit TSO.ca for more information and to buy tickets.
